Holy Week 2026
We warmly welcome you to St Hilary Church Holy week. This deeply meaningful time in the church calendar marks the final days of Lent and leads us towards Easter. Through a series of special services, we journey together from the joy of Palm Sunday to the solemnity of Good Friday and the celebration of the Resurrection on Easter Day.
Our services combine traditional liturgy, music, and moments of quiet reflection, offering space for both long-standing members of the congregation and visitors to engage with the story at the heart of the Christian faith. Holy Week at St Hilary offers an opportunity to pause, reflect, and share in a sense of community as we gather to remember and celebrate together.
Palm Sunday 2026
Our Palm Sunday service was a truly meaningful and memorable occasion, brought to life through a beautiful re-enactment of the first Palm Sunday by the Open The Book and Young Explorers groups. With enthusiasm and care, the children and leaders retold the story of Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem, capturing the joy and reverence of the crowd as they waved palm branches and welcomed Him. Their thoughtful performance helped everyone present to reflect more deeply on the significance of the day, creating a worshipful and engaging atmosphere for all ages. It was a wonderful way to come together as a community, celebrating faith, creativity, and the spirit of Palm Sunday.

Mothering Sunday
Mothering Sunday 2026 was a warm and joyful occasion at St Hilary Church, as we gathered together to celebrate and give thanks for the love and care shown within families and our community. Everyone present received a small posy of daffodils, continuing a much-loved tradition and bringing a touch of spring to the day. We are mindful that Mothering Sunday can be a sensitive time for many people, and we were grateful that the service was received with warmth and appreciation.

The Feast of St Hilary of Poitiers
Last Sunday’s Feast of St Hilary of Poitiers, our Patron Saint, was a memorable celebration. We were delighted to welcome the Truro Chamber Choir, who sang William Byrd’s Four Part Mass within the liturgy under the direction of Martin Palmer. After a magnificent bring-and-share lunch, Martin brought together thirteen musicians for a wonderful performance of Mozart’s Serenade No. 10 (Gran Partita), bringing the day to a joyful and uplifting close. 11/01/26

Eight candidates took part: three were baptised and confirmed, and five were confirmed by the Bishop. The celebration continued with the baptism of baby Viola, making it a truly joyful occasion. The day was made even more special by a lovely drinks reception afterwards. At St Hilary Church our community continues to thrive and grow, as we welcome new members, celebrate faith milestones, and share in the joy of being together.

Remembrance Service
Sunday 9th November 2025, together we remembered and gave thanks for the lives given — and still being given — in conflicts across the world; for those left behind; and for all who continue to live with the consequences of war. Though the weather kept us indoors, our hearts were united in remembrance and prayer. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.
Feast Of All Souls
Monday 3rd November 2025. Our Feast of All Souls service was a special time to remember and give thanks for all those we have loved and lost over the years. As we gathered together, candles were lit while the names of our loved ones were read aloud — each flame a gentle symbol of love, memory, and hope. It was a prayerful, peaceful, and deeply reflective service, offering comfort and space to remember those who remain forever in our hearts.
